Soundtrack to my life story movie...
So I stole this meme from
thewhiteviolin but it wasn't interesting enough for me, so I spiced it up. HOW?!
BY ADDING BANDBOYS, OF COURSE!!
What's sad about this meme is that I COULD NOT HAVE PICKED BETTER SONGS IF I HAD TRIED. My media player is just awesome like that.
So here's the deal: Music player of choice on random, no skipping songs, write each song next to it's corresponding place in the film, straight down the list. Add more backstory if you wish, or review the movie if you like. Whatever.
Opening Credits: Ga Ga by Melanie C - So, is my movie an overtly lesbian story that pretends not to be, or a flick that thinks it's badass but really it's just a romantic comedy on steroids?
Waking Up: Always On My Mind by Michael Buble - According to my movie, I'm kind of a loverboy. I'm obviously dreaming about Pete and wake up with him still on my mind.
Falling in Love: Shake Tramp by Mariana's Trench - Pete acts like a total whore but I love him anyway. We hook up and spend many happy days together. Like, three.
Fight Song: A Brief History... by The Waifs - Taking a trip back down memory lane, I realise that our (three day) history kind of sucked anyway, because Pete always just wanted to get high and have buttsex. Ok, so it didn't really suck, but I don't deserve to be with a skank. Pete and I fight when I say that out loud.
Breaking Up: Crush by Jennifer Paige - Pete walks out after our fight and is never seen again. He's rumoured to be living in a mountain cabin somewhere with a guy named JoeTroh. I realise my feelings for Pete were just a crush. Henceforth, I go in search of true love.
Prom: I Should Tell You by Adam Pascall and Rosario Dawson - At my prom, I am forced to dance with another boy named Spencer after we both fail our friend Jon's Musical Taste Test miserably. We both maintain that Celine Dion is a perfectly valid listening choice. His friends Ryan and Brendon agree with us while Jon is grading our papers, but deny everything when he returns. Spencer and I get talking and tell each other all our deepest secrets.
Life is Good: Naked by The Spice Girls - After making out behind the school gymnasium for almost an hour, we go back to Spencer's parents house where he lives in the garage. We proceed to get extremely naked and do things to each other that would make even Pete blush.
Mental Breakdown: That's Why Mommy Left Us by Stephen Lynch - Once I have graduated, I get a job at a local Starbucks and have a nervous breakdown when Gerard Way walks in and starts hitting on me over his latte. Spencer can't handle my crazies and leaves, and I start hallucinating that my stuffed elephant is our lovechild and try to explain why his other daddy had to leave.
Driving: Blood by My Chemical Romance - When my friend Bob from our weekend drumline practices comes over and finds me rocking in a corner while sucking my thumb, he bundles me into his car and drives me to the nearest institution.
Flashback: Come To My Window by Melissa Etheridge - My therapist on 'the inside' finally figures out that he needs to get me to think about getting Spence back into my life to get back on the road to being sane. He triggers a memory from our time together, where Spencer would come over and sing me to sleep through my window. SUDDENLY I'M CURED OF MY CRAZIES AND KNOW I MUST GET SPENCER BACK!
Getting Back Together: Oklahoma State Of Mind by Kane - I call Spencer to see if we can meet up to talk. When he agrees, I take him to a bar close by and explain that I was only temporarily insane and that he should take me back because I feel less gay without his magical gay-making beard around me all the time. He agrees that his beard is magical and that if we agree on somethign as important as that, then maybe we're meant to be together.
Wedding: Man On The Side by Steven Childs - On our wedding day, I see Spencer hugging a short guy who is wearing a trucker cap with his suit. I accuse him of cheating on me, but he explains that this Patrick guy is his best friend Frank's boyfriend. I tell Spencer it's too bad that Frank has a boyfriend, because we totally could have tapped that together after the reception.
Night Before the War: Love Is Stronger Than Pride by Ricochet - Some guy selling raffle tickets tricks me into joining the army, and Bush starts another war in some small country nobody has ever heard of. The night before I ship out, I take Spencer out on a romantic date, and then we go home and have kinky sex. I assure him that his is the only sex I want for the rest of my life.
Final Battle: If We Were A Movie by Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus - It's not much of a war really, just a bunch of guys with frying pans hitting each other over the head. But our orders are to shoot at anything that moves, so we mostly just shoot animals for food and play Go Fish with the guys who manage not to get hit hard enough to get a concussion. I meet up with Brendon from school in the army. He seems most pleased with our choice of card game. He tells me he and Ryan broke up a while back and that if Spencer and I weren't all committed and shit, he would be fucking me pretty damn hard by now.
Moment of Triumph: Where Were You? by Jo Dee Messina - We eventually win the not-a-war, by confiscating and removing all the frying pans from the area. It's sort of an anti-climax really. Brendon tells me he's going to go home and try to figure things out with Ryan, who he tells me is really named George. Ryan thinks George is a retarded name and uses Ryan instead because he's obsessed with Ryan Reynolds. No shit, he even writes fanfic.
Death Scene: Weight Of The World by Evanescence - When I'm in my mid-forties, I die in a freak accident. I've been working in demolition, and one day when checking over the wrecking ball, its chain snaps and I'm crushed. Spencer had been temping as my assistant, and runs over to help, but there's nothing he can do. I contemplate whether there is some way I can kill him from the horrible position I'm in, just so I could have him with me, but when you're stuck under a wrecking ball, your options are limited, and murder is nearly impossible.
Funeral Song: It's All Coming Back To Me Now by Celine Dion - Remembering the first night we spent together, Spencer makes sure Celine Dion is played at my funeral. Jon comes anyway. So do Brendon and George, who are back together. They invite Spencer to come and live with them in their one bedroom apartment. They offer him a spot in their bed, but Spencer decides to sleep on the couch. At least for the first week or two.
End credits: Buffy The Vampire Slayer Theme by Nerf Herder There really is nothing left to say at this point, except that my Windows Media Player knows its shit.
Upon reflection....AM I REALLY THAT GAY?!
I'm not going to do a review. This was long as fuck. But I really do welcome anyone who got all the way through this to review it, and maybe even try it out yourself.
